Guide to becoming a realistic mobster

1. Let's say you have some left-over millions from some other days when you were playing on a character where you collected a lot of cash through side-jobs and selling some houses. You make yourself an associate character and decide to roleplay a mob associate.
With that decision you decide to roleplay a character which is in need of money and has to constantly work his ass off with small time criminal activities in order to pay their tribute to your soldier. However, that important factor and character decelopment is missing out completely if you just start to roleplay as a rich mobster from the beginning. Because that's how nobody starts out in the mob. If you roleplay your character being out of a rich parent house, who went to college and started to study law: Why are you in La Cosa Nostra? This makes absolutely no sense at all. This faction is supposed to be purely for character development. If you roleplay a fully developed, unrealistic character with no development whatsoever from the start, you're obviously in the wrong faction.
2. People in La Cosa Nostra try to avoid as much public and federal attention as possible. Let's take an example out of the Goodfellas movie. When Henry Hill and Jimmy Conway did the Lufthansa Heist, they earned a lot of cash from it and passed it out farely to everybody who worked on the heist. Some of them started to buy expensive clothes and cars and lived an expensive life-style with parties, hookers and money. What happened to them? They got whacked.
Why? Because they attracted a lot of attention to the feds and were a mayor threat to the organization. It is very likely that a couple of people in the crew have a working RICO case on them. The feds try to collect as much evidence as possible in order to persecute them. The feds will see all the amounts of money and suspicion will rise. The people showing off their fancy cars interact on a daily basis with the people who have a RICO case coming on them. Meaning, they will be prosecuted with the RICO case aswell, and even tho we don't have a federal faction, we should RP it existing as Passive RP, since it does IRL.
3. When you drive an expensive car, you put your life in danger in La Cosa Nostra.
Captains try to empty their soldiers and associates pockets at any opportunity possible. When they see you driving around with an expensive vehicle, you will be asked to give a lot of money to them. If you can't do that, because you spent all that money on that expensive vehicle you will most likely get whacked for not paying enough tribute when it was clearly possible.
