Youngsters are individuals working for a crime organization, yet not fully involved. They're not members of the family, they have to prove themselves to become associates in the family, so instead of random recruitments I'll help you with this guide to recruit youngsters.
Modern La Cosa Nostra is a group of criminals, who have extensive kn***edge about certain criminal activities, with the aim of earning the most money possible. It is an organization that has operated over a hundred years in the United State of America, that survived with strict rules and severe punishments, death the most used one. It used to have power over big financial establishments and even played a big role in politics.
In 2016, LCN is much weaker, and mostly consists of small time criminals that try to make a living and earn the most cash. Its purely the money that matters. On the top of these crminals are powerful mob figures. May it be associates or soldiers that protect them, but at the same time pull out of them every single dime they can find. The mob figure at the top mostly had a keyrole within the development and kn***edge of those criminals. He schooled his associates.

With this guide I want to present you one specific way and system of how to school a youngster. I will be showing you steps on how to meet, school and keep a youngster busy with the idea of making a youngster an independent mob figure with general kn***edge.

Schooling boils down to the following--
Meeting the outsider.
Introducing him to small-time illegal roleplay - whether it be fronting him drugs or getting him to jack a few cars. You should be able to come up with light illegal roleplay corresponding to your specialty.
Introducing him to other associates and made-guys in the crew.
Build a character connection to your wannabe, have some passive RP, go out for a bite to eat at the local fast food joint perhaps.
Now teach him. Drop him both OOC and IC information every now and again. What to teach him on is found in a bullet point list at the bottom of the page.

Meeting the outsider

The progress of meeting the youngster may only seem as one little step in making somebody a successful modern mobster. However, the way you encounter him will be the key on how fast you will progress with him and how efficient your schooling will be. In the modern mob, the ways of recruitment mostly limit themselves to a hand full of ways. The associate or made-guy mostly meets wannabes hanging out at certain “known” bars or mob-related joints. Observation of criminals can also be a way of finding new little recruitees.

When you have found someone who seems to be decent, starting off with little conversations is a good way to start. Never approach a wannabe saying: “How you doing? Wanna’ work for me?”. At first, that’d seem awfully great for the youngster and he pretty much would be cheering in real life. However, its a big fat turn-down point when it comes to character development and realism. Getting connected should be a challenge for the youngster, and doing that in a simple day just sounds wrong. People on MTARP pretty much rush roleplay to come to the point much quicker. Meeting and interacting with outsiders should start sl***y and intense, like the start of a serious love relationship. The steps should be:

1. Having conversations and getting to know him.

2. Starting to get close to him and spending time with the him. Basically, letting the outsider drive you around and perform mild illegal activities under your observation.

3. Exchanging phone numbers with the youngster and developing a friendly relationship

ALTERNATIVELY you can do what is much more common and simply hire them as a legal worker at whichever joint they're at. Work them there for a bit before moving them onto light illegal RP.

Keeping the outsider for yourself

Now you have an outsider that listens to your commands and aspires to become a mobster by observing your actions, your life-style, the people you interact with and the way you're making money. However, this is just the absolute start of the outsider's recruitment period. You're acting as a middle-man between him and the mob. You're mostly the only connected person that the youngster knows personally. It's important that you keep it that way in order to protect your youngster and the special mentor-apprentice relationship that you have with your outsider. Its important that you make clear OOC'ly that you handle that wannabe and that nobody else should interfere into his development.

Introducing the outsider to schooling

Schooling isn't just sitting down with a youngster, telling him what La Cosa Nostra is within fifty minutes and then asking your caporegime to /hire him. Schooling is a long-term process that needs to be taken seriously. The quality of a mob-roleplayer is defined through the way he got schooled IC'ly to be a mobster and OOC'ly about modern LCN roleplay.

To start off, you yourself need to know what you're actually doing and how you actually earn money. You cannot school somebody if you don't have an own racket or perform certain illegal activities on a habitual basis. When you perform a certain racket on a daily basis - good job. Then you're ready to start off the schooling! Let's say for example, that you mainly deal drugs and run a boxing club. You start fronting your youngster for example weed, and let him deal it on the streets. You show him specifically how to approach buyers and successfully sell all the stuff. In between, you show the outsiderr the work that you do at the boxing joint and teach him how to successfully host fights and collect bets. That way, the wannabe gets something to do when he's on his own and at the same time always stays in contact with you and observes, how you interact with other people and make your living. LCN is all about money - by showing the youngster how to earn, you make a big progress with schooling him.

Introducing the outsider to the crew you're working with

Now you have a youngster that knows how to earn money. Now, its time that the youngster gets connected. Letting him have the feeling of working for a certain powerful group of people and belonging to something big.
You do that by introducing the youngster to others. Meaning, that you start bringing the youngster to the joints, where your crew is hanging out. Make sure the youngster always stays with you and that he knows the names of people around him and especially, that everybody around you two knows his name and that he belongs to you. That he's your youngster. Introduce him as a a friend of yours. Don't let the youngster stay around for too often. And most importantly, keep him out of certain group activities, for example heists. Instead, start calling the youngster more often to unusual times and create roleplay events where he has to for example work together with another guy to load some stuff onto a truck or drive a transportation truck of a burglary. That way, the youngster gets more and more involved and him becoming an associate is getting closer.

Schooling the outsider about LCN

This is the most important part of schooling. When you trust your youngster, you can start to school him about LCN (La Cosa Nostra). You explain him how crews function and inform him about the crew that you're working with. You explain to him the importancy of made-guys and teach him certain street-rules that everybody has to follow (for example: Don't rat out your friends). Always make sure that the youngster is listening to you and that he really understands what you're trying to transmit to him and what caliber of organization he is working with. Inform him about the dangers and that he should watch to whom he is talking to and what he is saying. There is a strict sub-ordination in the mob and breaking that can sometimes be very dangerous. Let's say the youngster accidentally meets the boss and doesn't know who he is. He insults him and bang! The youngster + you is dead. Because you are responsible for the youngsters action and safety.

Vouching for the outsider

You have the youngster and he knows most of the people in your crew. Congratulations. Now its time to introduce him to your captain formally and vouch for him. You inform the captain that your outsider is a good earner and you've think he's ready to be brought in. Once your captain has given the go-ahead you can introduce him to your captain and tell him who he's working for. You let him know which soldier he's sending up his 25 percent to, and which streets the crew he's working for controls. You can say other stuff to him too - as long as he knows he's working for an important group of people and he can't fuck up.

All the points to school them on

IC

Do not show off driving unrealistic and expensive cars, why make yourself a bigger target for the feds?
Beards and other facial hair are not allowed in the mob, regardless of the fact that they are seen as a fashion statement in 2016. They are a sign of not taking care of yourself and your public appearance. Facial hair is also deemed as a lack of self respect.
Explain the most important rule of the mob: omerta. Never rat to the feds - the punishment is death.
The kick-ups system: associates pay to THEIR made-guys, made-guys pay to their captains. Explain terms such as ‘paying tribute’ and the ‘points system’. Points being another word for ‘percent’. REMEMBER that outsiders don’t kick up until they are /hired.(This system will be added on another guide)
NEVER speak business or give out incriminating information over the phone / SMS. Before discussions including such make sure the place has been searched for bugs.
Explain guns may not be carried unless under extreme circumstances that have been permitted by their captain or you’re on a risky task.
Teach them how to introduce another person. When an associate is introducing someone who isn't made, they use 'a friend of mine'. When made guys introduce a made-guy to another made-guy, they use the term 'a friend ours'.
Don’t talk behind other people’s backs, that can be seen very negatively and could result in your death. You never know if the person you are talking to is a friend of the guy that you are shit-talking.
The mob is built on respect. Keep your voice to yourself and respect those above you.
Don’t hit on / disrespect the wife / goomah of another member of the family.
Making money. Explain that a racket is any illegal activity run internally in a crew by a group of 1-2-3 guys. Give examples of rackets run by members, e.g: gambling, chop-shopping, house theft.
