Emergency or Not

What is 511?

Non-emergency calls should only be used for non-emergencies. The SAPD has provided this number, 311, because of the influx of prank and non-emergency calls we receive on the emergency line. We have taken the time to realize that all calls are not emergencies; therefore "non-emergency" calls hold the main purpose of trying to get in contact with an Trooper. Please be advised that when you call you may need to include your phone number so that we may return your calls.

When should you call if it is?

  • Contacting the Impound Lot
  • Updates on Cases
  • Media and Community relations
  • Community Suggestions
  • SAPD Complaints/Commend Office
  • Stolen Vehicles

Be aware that you may not always have your call answered by an trooper.

What is 911?

Therefore, all information regarding non-emergency issues please use 311. Misuse of the 911 system is a crime and will be taken as a serious one.

When should you use 911?:

  • Assaults
  • Thefts
  • Disorderly Behaviour
  • Drugs/Gun Dealing Crimes
